Hallmarks in Czech Republic

A hallmark is a mark stamped on an object by an institution independent of the manufacturer, whose mark guarantees that the product has the declared purity. In the case of the Czech Republic, such a person is the Assay Office.

Czech hallmarks express, in addition to the basic information that the hallmarked object has been inspected and found to be correct in terms of purity, also an indication of the metal used, its purity and the period when the hallmark was struck.

Most commonly used gold qualities:

585/1000 - 14 carat gold

750/1000 - 18 carat gold

The production marks are assigned by the Assay Office on the basis of the trade licence "Goldsmithing and Jewellery" (bound trade). This trade licence is issued by the Trade Licensing Office on the basis of a document proving the attainment of professional competence - an apprenticeship certificate in the field of "Goldsmith Jewellery".
